Bromidrosis

What is it?

Bromidrosis is malodorous feet.

What are the symptoms?

It is normally caused by sweating normally between the toes and areas in contact with the shoe.  It can lead to bacterial and fungal infection due to the damp conditions.

What can you do at home?

The key is to take measures to reduce sweat:

  • Wash your feet regularly
  • Machine wash socks and shoes
  • Talc your feet
  • Surgical spirit between the toes
  • Absorbent insoles

When to seek help?

Contact your local pharmacy if none of the measures above improve your symptoms.

How is it treated?

There are a range of different footbath soaks and topical antibacterial agents that can be used.  Speak to your pharmacist for advice.
